2002 SC Teen Queen of Roses

Amanda and Taylor. She has lived many places during her life, and moved to Williston, SC when she was 10 years old. Amy was chosen the winner of the D.A.R.E. essay contest and recited her essay to the entire student body during the D.A.R.E. Program. Amy moved to Barnwell while in the sixth grade and she attended Guinyard Butler Middle School through the 8th grade. She was crowned Miss Seventh Grade at the Middle School Pageant. She was a cheerleader and was on the honor roll and in an honors music class for two years. As part of the honors music class she traveled to many places to entertain including paramount Carowinds. Singing and entertaining have always been something she enjoys doing and hopes to one day pursue a career in entertainment. Amy moved to Orangeburg a year ago with her parents, Don and Melissa Gaskin, and she now attends Edisto High School as a freshman. She is a member of the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad. This past summer she participated in cheerleading camp at Myrtle Beach and was chosen to try out for Team U.S., a squad that travels to different colleges around the United States and cheers for their games. She was crowned Miss Teen South Carolina Queen of Roses in February and is excited about the opportunities the title will provide her. In July, she will represent Orangeburg in the Miss Teen South Carolina Pageant in Spartanburg.
